ajiwai is a small, self-funded project built to help people discover human-created artwork that genuinely suits their homes. You photograph a room, and ajiwai suggests real pieces from real artists: matched to your palette, your light, the mood of the space, and the size of the wall.
The hope is simple. Buying art should feel approachable, and artists should reach people who might otherwise never find their work.

Photograph the room. The photo is analysed entirely in your browser, and it never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it.
ajiwai reads the space: colour harmony, visual busyness, the style of the room, and the true size of the wall you have in mind.

Every piece on ajiwai comes from a human artist. What we build is the finding, never the art: matching, search, and learning what you are drawn to. Every artist confirms each piece is their own original work before it can be listed.
Room photos are analysed in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share them. Saved rooms are kept privately for you, and nothing about your home is made public unless you opt in.
The artist receives 87% of the price. The rest is a 13% commission: 10% to run ajiwai, and about 3% for Stripe's payment processing. No surcharge is ever added to what you pay at checkout.

Listing is free. You set your prices, keep 87% of every sale, and are paid out directly by Stripe. Each piece is shown to people whose rooms genuinely suit it, so your work is discovered by taste rather than by luck.
ajiwai is currently invite-only while we grow carefully.
How do I get an invite code?
Write to [email protected] and tell us a little about your work, with a link to it if you have one. We send codes out in small batches so every new artist gets a proper welcome.
Buyers do not need a code. Anyone can browse, match a room, and buy.

What does ajiwai actually do?
You upload a photo of your room and ajiwai suggests real artwork that suits the space, weighing colour harmony, the visual busyness of the wall, and whether a piece is the right size for the spot you have in mind. You can then preview pieces on your own wall before deciding.
Is the art machine-generated?
No. Every piece on ajiwai is created by a human artist. The marketplace is for human-made work only, and artists confirm that each piece is their own original work before it can be listed.
What happens to my room photo?
It is analysed entirely in your browser and never uploaded to or stored on our servers unless you explicitly choose to share it, for example by offering a room to the Tastemaker pool. If you sign in and choose to save a room, it is kept privately for you so you can return to it later.
How do I buy a piece?
Checkout is handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Most originals are one of a kind, so the piece is briefly reserved for you while you check out. An order is only confirmed once payment genuinely clears.
What if a piece arrives damaged?
Buying art you have only seen on a screen takes a little trust, so if a piece arrives and something is wrong, here is exactly what happens.
Send us a photo of the piece and its packaging within 72 hours of delivery and we refund you in full. The artist isn't paid until a week after delivery, so your money is simply returned; it never left. Every piece ships insured, so the artist is protected too. If minor damage is repairable and you'd rather keep the work, tell us, and a partial refund is often the nicer answer. Because most pieces are one of a kind, we usually cannot replace them, so making it right means your money back.
What if it is not what was described?
If the size, medium, or condition does not match the listing, that is on us. Tell us within 7 days of delivery and we make it right, with a full refund or a return at no cost to you.
Can I return a piece if I change my mind?
You have 7 days from delivery to send a piece back for a refund. Return it in its original packaging and condition, and we refund you once it arrives safely. Return shipping is yours to cover.

I am an artist. How do I sell here?
Listing is invite-only for now. Email [email protected] for a code, then create a profile, tell us about your practice, and list your work from your studio page. Listings are reviewed before going live, and payouts are set up once through Stripe.
Who is behind this?
ajiwai is built independently, without outside funding. It exists because finding art for a real wall should be a pleasure and not a chore.

Room photos stay in your browser unless you explicitly allow sharing. Analytics are anonymous, first-party, and never sold. Payments are handled by Stripe, so card details never touch our servers. Accounts store only what you choose to share.
